Yesterday, I received a copy of "Taipei Music Tour / Taipei Music Map" (Brien John, editor in chief) from Taipei. There are a lot of guide maps for tourist attractions and restaurants, but this is the first one I've seen that focuses on the music culture in Taipei. It's all in Japanese. The publisher is the Ministry of Culture of the Executive Yuan. Produced by Taiwan Beats. Taiwan Beats is a platform to promote Taiwanese pop music via the web.

John Huang, who is involved in the "Taipei Music Map" project, and I were at the same session at a music conference in Bangkok last year , and we invited him to a conference in Okinawa in February, but he couldn't come because of the spread of Covid-19.

The paper features live and small venues, art spaces, record shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. When I'm out and about in a city, I often get this kind of information via the internet, but I was reminded of how useful it is to have this kind of printed material. Instead of following the links one by one, you can unfold the map and see the whole picture with a single glance, which is very gratifying and nice to have at hand.

With the current corona epidemic making international travel impossible, the cleverness of targeting overseas for this kind of promotion is a wonderful strategy that I feel is similar to Taiwan's response to the corona epidemic.
When people who are hungry to go somewhere else pick up this map, when the situation is resolved, I am sure they will think about going to Taiwan.

It's not only on paper, of course, it's also linked to the web, and beyond that, there are trip plans ready to be made.

Prepare and design paper media as an entry point to a proper exit. It's a matter of course, but it's not easy to do.
I think it is very beneficial to transmit information in this way from the city of music, Koza, or the island of music, Okinawa. I hope someone responsible will consider it.

We have received a large number of "台北音楽散策 / Taipei Music Map" and it is available at the Music Town Oto-Ichiba,(Okinawa-city) reception desk and the Sakurazaka Theater(Naha-city). Please pick it up.
