In 1990, formed and produced by Okinawan legendary singer Sadao China. The 1st album "IKAWU " (1991) was highly appreciated and they made two successful European tours. 

The members were renewed in 1999. After several member changes, now it is active with four ladies, Misuzu Okiyama, Nagisa Uehara, Aoi Yomochi, Rie Motomura. In 2015 the album "reborn" (King Records) rejoined major label. "Live House Shim-uta" (Naha-city ,Okinawa)is their music base. They still continue tours mainly in mainland Japan.

Churashima Navigator was founded in 2011 by DJ Sinkichi and DJ Nu-doh. in Okinawa, Japan. In 2013, Okinawan folksinger Kanako Horiuchi joined the band. Since then, the mix of Okinawan traditional music and experimental beat and heavy bass has been heralded as a new kind of world music.  Influences include dub, techno, industrial, jazz, and of course, Okinawan folk.

They remixed legendary Okinawan female folksinger Misako Oshiro’s debut track ”Kataumui”(1962). In 2017 they successfully toured Thailand, and played at PLAYTIME festival 2017, the biggest outdoor festival in Mongolia.

Formed in 1997 by Morito who writes the music and lyrics. Their activities are centered around Naha. Through the power of their music they were leaders in revitalising the Sakaemachi market area of Naha. They have given powerful live performances in Japan and overseas. ‘The LP Collection Vol.1’, a 2012 compilation album released in Europe, included one of their songs ‘Sono Soro’. Their activities have broadened to include stage music and also supporting arrangements for musicians in the genres of poets rock, folk, and Okinawan minyo.

A five-member Experimental Dub Band based at the "Tower of Dub" DIY studio in "Koza" Gintengai, Okinawa City. Their 1st album, recorded in 2015, was a mix of each instrument’s musical journey from their own perspective. Recently, while influenced by Bass Music and other emerging genres of the 2010’s like Footwork, Juke, Gorje, and Vaporware, they’ve been taking a trial and error approach to dropping dubs with their own unique sensibility.

THE SAKISHIMA meeting is "Isamu Simoji " and "Yukito Ara " consisting of two people. Okinawan music unit. Miyako dialect singing "Isamu Simoji ".Yaeyama Folk standard-bearer of "Yukito Ara ". To create a fusion of great music sensibility together. THE SAKISHIMA meeting (Yukito Ara / Isamu Shimoji).

They have toured to France, Spain, Mexico, Jamaica, Cuba, US, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea.  NY time introduce{ Danny Boy”’s PV. Brand-new albumd their successful show in New York City and their brand-new album is”Silence of Salisima” was released in 2017.

(Classical music)

Composer arranger, pianist. Born in  Okinawa, Japan. She compose and arrange the music around Okinawa music, and get high evaluation in and out of Okinawa.

The form varies from classical music to world music. She arrange so many music for stage music, CM music, film music, classical groups. In 2015, she started the stage to preside "Utahai (Utahai) in Okinawa". The stage which combined music, video and dance expresses life-sized Okinawa she felt.

"Kariyushi" in this album is live recorded in "Okinawa no Uta hai 2016".

 

(Okinawan pop)

A singer-songwriter originally from Ishigaki island and now living in Tokyo. In 2005, she debuted CD with album "Kokoro no hoshi" as a weapon of natural nature and Island soul. In 2006, formed a unit "Churamana" conveying the spirit of Hawaii & Okinawa with Maki Uehara (Hula & Vocal). She released 2 solo arbums and 5albums as  "Churamana". Brand-new album is “Sitinumuide" which released in 2017.

(Jazz)

This band has a warm Okinawan sound, carefully precise arrangements, and also the ability to improvise. They were formed in October 2007. In their first two years they played in jazz houses in Naha every week, and after that they were invited to play at several other venues including the Taiwan International Music Festival, Ueda Joint, Okinawa International Music Festival (musix), and Kanazawa Jazz Street. They have released four albums so far. A single entitled ‘Ju-ichi gatsu’ was a collaboration with singer-songwriter Tate takako. They played two successive years at the Arabaki Rock Festival.

Element of the moment released their brand-new album”OKINAWAN NIGHTS” in 2017.

In 2015, three singer-songwriters who love cooking and sake gathered and formed in Naha city. Each member writes the lyrics and music. acts vocals. While singing everyday in Naha-city, They are pursuing a simple happiness through coalescence, cooking ,sake and music fusion. In the summer of 2017, 2nd EP "New Babe" was released.

KAHIMBA4 is formed in 4members of OKINAWAN SALSA BAND. The music which made an originality of "Cuban music" and "Okinawa" fused by an exquisite balance is estimated highly in many points of view.

Kachimba4 performs not only in Okinawa locally ,they spread Okinawa Latin Music to overseas such as Cuba , US ,Canada ,Hong Kong and Taiwan. In 2015 Kachimba4 appeared in WOMEX @ Budapest.

Their brand new album is “Hacha - gamaku”.

Maternal body is made up of Cumbia meets PUNK style bands, YA BASTARDS !. Because of the withdrawal of the member who compose their music, the remaining members formed WA Rubbers in 2015.

In 2016 , WA Rubbers released their first album "MOU! ASHI! BEAT!". They had gigs in mainrand Japan, Taipei and Seoul.

They appeared in V-ROX (Vladivostok, Russia) in 2017.

Formed in 2004 with Irei as the mainl member.

The chord work and exquisite phrasing of 3 guitars, vocal melodies that touch your heart, and the overlapping chorus ensemble create a strange floating feeling, and the band’s groove is supported by the simple and powerful drum and bass.

They have released 2 mini albums, 1 single, and 2 full albums. Brand-new release is mini album”vein”(2017). In 2016 and 2017, they appeared at  “Playtime Festival”, the biggest rock festival in Mongolia.

Born in Hiroshima, Japan. After living in Tokyo, she has moved to Okinawa since 2012. She is involved in live performances in various places, CM music production, school song composition, and so on.

The instrument is mainly piano, guitar ,tin whistle ,guitar  ,nose flute etc. Sing by themselves lyrics with inspiration from various things such as folk tales and novels abroad, from pirates to vegetables, as well as their own lives. From the audience it is said that” it seems to be reading picture books” and "Take me to a world of different stories for each song".

(Folk,Rock)

A singer-songwriter born in Naha City, Okinawa. He started his music career in Osaka when he was in university.After returning to Okinawa, he started his solo career, he appeared in live performances and events in various places in Okinawa. His music has been influenced from various genres of music, folk, rock, black music ,Okinawan local folk music.

He has his own musicality that reconstructed them with free interpretation, and a delicate singing voice with transparency.

In 2016, 1st album "Beyond" was released. The song called “Hainumikaji” was appointed as a theme song of a film [Sea Opening]. 

(Okinawa traditional)

She was born in 1982 on Tsuken Island off the east coast of Okinawa main island. She received a big influence from her musical Kamiya family and was on stage from the age of three. When she became a primary school student she began learning music seriously from her uncle, the minyo singer Koichi Kamiya. Her roots are in Okinawan minyo but she also writes her own songs and has performed widely during her career. Her voice is unlike anyone else’s and once heard cannot be forgotten as it satisfies people’s hearts. She is continually investigating new things in the world of music.

Two people play Southern island’s paradisaic music. A rapper RITTO was born in Ishigaki island and he based in Okinawa. Olive Oil (OIL WORKS) was born in Tokunoshima, Kagoshima. He is a producer and makes many trucks based in Fukuoka, Japan.
